BLORP Invests in an Artisanal Bucket Distribution Disruptor

BLORP established a subsidiary to invest in a bold, forward-leaning bucket handling platform for the Greater Puddle and Adjacent Puddle markets. The new company BKT (short for Buckets, Kind of Terrific) is expected to begin acquiring actual buckets at some point in the autumn, weather permitting. The firm will consider add-ons in pails, tubs and one large drum, mood depending.

Market Reasons

Bucket handling in the region is defined by many small family firms who own roughly one bucket each and firmly refuse to discuss it. Currently, BLORP estimates there to be circa 9,000 buckets in play, including over 3,000 buckets in the initial focus market: kitchens, sheds and behind the shed.

In addition, the bucket sector is growing at around 7% a year, corresponding to a widely reported shortage of things to put stuff in. This growth is expected to accelerate as the industry discovers the second handle (primarily with lid adoption).

The Big Idea

BLORP's value proposition is based on the sweeping technological changes that will transform bucketry in the coming decade. The bucket market is still lacking many of the innovations found in adjacent categories such as jugs, or indeed the humble watering can.

With BKT, BLORP will innovate across the entire bucket journey with a goal to reduce spillage, maximise sloshing efficiency and meaningfully improve overall bucket morale. This includes a 3D bucket previewer for the indecisive, clever software that guesses the correct price, smarter routes for the vans and a robot that stacks things neatly.
